Are your metals hypoallergenic?


All metals in the shop are lead and nickel free.  That said, sterling pieces are noted as such.

Can I customize clasps?

New for 2024, we allow customers to specify which clasp they'd prefer on their necklace and bracelet purchases for MOST items, with magnetic clasps available for a small upcharge. Sometimes, in the case of pendants, the items come on pre-assembled chain and we cannot customize those. Fancy strung necklaces sometimes come with pre-selected clasps for aesthetic purposes.  We'll specify in each listing.

Can I get sterling ear wires on my earrings?


Yes! Just add the "ear wire upgrade" item from the shop.  It's the last item available.  It's a $3 upcharge per pair.

Do you resize bracelets and/or necklaces?


The vast majority of our items, we are glad to resize.  We want all bodies to be adequately sparkly. We will specify in listing descriptions which items cannot be resized.  Standard sizing on bracelets is around 7.5",  Standard sizing on necklaces is between 18"-20", but again, we try to provide exact details in every listing. 

Would you make matching earrings for me?

The short answer: maybe.

The longer answer:  it depends on who crafted the original piece and their current work load and bead availability. Use the contact form and I'll get you an answer ASAP.

Do you take commissions in general?

Sometimes, depending on the work load of the crafter. Inquire through the contact form.

We notice you only allow ten items per week per customer. Why?

We are, as a queer-staffed shop, a niche jewelry shop in many ways. Over the years, we've built a clientele that appreciates this fact. Owning a piece of Peculiarity Shop jewelry has become something important to some of our customers, and we want to be sure we're producing enough goods FOR everyone who would like to support us. There are eight of us, but all of us have other jobs that restrict crafting time.


How do you implement the ten item per week limit?

The week runs from Sunday through Saturday for us. The first ten items purchased will be the ten attributed to the customer's account. Anything purchased over ten items for that week will be refunded within 48 hours and returned to available inventory for other customers. We do not do swaps if something is listed that you want after your initial purchases.


Do you ship internationally?


What are your shipping rates?

US orders over $40, free shipping. All other orders, including international orders, are determined by the USPS calculator. We ship first class.

How do you ship?

Padded envelopes and tissue paper OR 5X5X5 boxes for brooches/candles/etc. Larger orders will be appropriately boxed and insured to protect your investment.

Average turnaround time?


We are a small shop staffed by people with day jobs.  Becky (hi, Becky) is the entirety of the shipping department and they're a special education teacher by day. Expect 5 business days for items to ship.  During the holidays, this drops to approximately 3 business days to account for volume at the post office.

Do you repair or accept returns?


Any item you purchase from us that breaks or doesn't meet expectations, please contact us so we can make it right, whether that means repairing your item or issuing a refund.

We don't share your private information with anyone.  Because we're not jerks.
